This is a series of photos that I took at our local tidepools. Some of the shots are intriguing because the show a scale and vibrancy of color that might otherwise be missed if you didn't look closely. I've found that experience improves your "eye" for finding things in a tidepool.
At first glance they seem to be pretty empty, but with practice it becomes easier to spot interesting flora and fauna. The primary defense for most things found in the tidepools is camouflage. The photo of the sea hare is a perfect example, it looks just like the seaweed next to it. My two favorites of the series are the one of the sea anenome because of its vibrant color and the one of the barnacles filled with water so that they almost look like eyes. The final photo in the series is gorgeous example of a Nudibranch, its really hard to spot these because of their size.
